Ali Farka Toure with Toumani Diabate

Cancer claimed Ali Farka Toure's life earlier this year. I'm thankful we can continue to feel his presence in the recordings he has left behind. Nick Gold and the producer Jerry Boys captured some of his greatest moments for the World Circuit label. In the Heart of the Moon and Savane are both breathtaking recordings and well worth investigating. The label, started by Nick Gold, this year celebrates 20 years of business with a 2-CD compilation of tracks that's a great introduction to a top notch label.
