Sunday Night at the Jazz Cafe

18/11/2007: Hugo Mendez of Soundway records drops some afro-latin gems in the build-up. Then shoulder to shoulder on the dancefloor with the small stage and the Baobab men dressed to kill. Clean mix for most of the time and at last a chance to hear these legends of Dakar. So happy that Ultra Horas, Coumba and On Verra Ca made the cut but hopes for Cabral, Kelen Ati Len and many others were dashed by the setlist. Just one exception, after the ska-infused Colette when the band struck up the track Bul Ma Miin. After 100 minutes of blistering sounds from a long-time favourite band I rescued our coats midst the piss-fumes in the basement and waited in the rain for the ride home. Until next time.

Saw them in Stockholm last night. It was one of the best concerts I've been to. 130 min (including Cabral!).
