Hot Sounds from Harare

Muvimi provided the Zimbabwe special for African Serenades (Vol 37). That was itself a condensed version of four compilations that I am happy to share with you today for a limited period. "These compilations are drawn from original Zimbabwean vinyl recordings collected in Zimbabwe during the period 1980 to 1987. I have sought to avoid songs available via international reissues and compilations. There are gaps in the chronology – they are just great songs from my collection." - Muvimi

If, like me, you don't tire of hot sounds from Zimbabwe then don't dispair there is still more to come....a classic LP by Flavian Nyathi and the Blues Revolution and a selection of mbira ensemble pieces.

I love days off work :-)
Glad you like this. There is a lot more in this genre, stay tuned.
I'll also be heading south for some rare SA jazz gems and early mbaqanga.

Track 12 on Vol. 1, "Reura," cuts off after a few seconds. There are two track 6's, one called "Reurura," which is not on the track listing. Was there some sort of mixup here?

The second track 6 (Reurura) is in fact the corrected track 12 (if that makes sense)
The original track 12 Reura had errors on the original so I had to replace it with a copy I had from another source.

I would be forever in your debt if you could re-post this. I've been listening to the "Take Cover" album and absolutely adore the Jairos Jiri band songs. I don't know if you take requests, but if you do, I can't get my hands on anything of Paul Matavire and the Jairos Jiri's and would love to hear more. This blog is wonderful, thanks once again.

Adam..I'm reviewing the batch of requests I've had over the last six months and you are not alone. I will be reloading some of the more requested stuff...including some of these tracks.
